The Indian Railways will soon organize the Computer Based Written Test for all applicants of Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician Posts offered by 21 RRBs. All applicants have submitted their application forms for ALP and Technician Posts via online mode till before the last date.

First of all, we want to tell you about the selection procedure for the Assistant Loco Pilot Posts. All applicants will be called for the First Stage Computer Based Test. After that, qualified candidates will be called for the second stage Computer Based Test. Candidates, who will manage to pass both the stages of CBT, will be called for the Computer-Based Aptitude Test and Document Verification, Medical test etc.

RRB Assistant Loco Pilot Exam Pattern for 1st Stage CBT Test

There will be two stages of the Computer Based Test for ALP Posts offered by RRBs. The detail of RRB ALP Syllabus for First Stage Written Test is given below:

First Stage Test for ALP posts is for only Screening of candidates for the second stage. The Minimum Passing criteria for the First stage for all categories: General -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST -25%. On the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the First stage, a merit list will be prepared and selected candidates will be called for the second stage test for ALP Posts.

Mode and Duration of Exam: The First Stage ALP Test will be organized in Computer Based Mode. The duration of the exam will be 60 minutes. It means you will have to give answers to 75 questions in 60 minute

Objective type Multi Choice Questions will be asked. The level of questions asked in the First Stage CBT will be as per the educational qualification and Technical Qualifications required for the post.

RRB ALP Syllabus for First Stage CBT 2022

In the First Stage of CBT for ALP posts, questions will be asked from four topics: Maths, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. RRB ALP Topic Wise Syllabus 2022 for CBT Stage 1 is given below:

RRB did not specify the exact numbers of questions in exam pattern that will be asked in the exam. But we assumed that 18-22 Questions will be asked from the Mathematics portion.

  • Difficulty Level of Questions: Less time taking, Easy
  • Type of Questions: From this topic, questions will be based on BODMAS, Fractions, Approximate Values, Percentage etc.

  • Type of Questions: Familiarity with elementary geometric figures and facts, lines, Triangle and its various kinds of centers.

  • Type of Question: Questions will be asked from the following topics-Triangle, Trapezium, Circle, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Hemispheres, Sphere, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base.

  • Type of Questions: Questions will get asked from these following topics- Elementary Surds, Quadratic Equations, Basic Algebraic Identities, Polynomials, Linear Equations in One and Two or more Variables.

Railway ALP Syllabus 2022- General Science

Under this topic, questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry, and Life Sciences of Matric Standard Level. In this subject, 20-22 questions may be asked in the CBT Stage-1. The questions will be asked to test knowledge of candidates about everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect.

Railway Assistant Loco Pilot Syllabus for Stage 2 Part B Topic Wise Detail

In Part B, total of 75 questions will be asked and the duration will be 60 minutes. Qualifying marks will be 35% for all category candidates. In Part B, questions will be asked from Trade Subjects. Trade Syllabus is prescribed by the Director-General of Employment & Training (DGET). The Trade Syllabus can be obtained from the DGET website.

RRB ALP Computer Based Aptitude Test Detail

Candidates, who will qualify in the second stage, will be called for the Computer Aptitude Test. Candidates equal to 8 times the number of ALP vacancies for each of the categories (including ExSM) shall be shortlisted for Computer Based AT (on the basis of their performance in Part A of the Second Stage).

Qualifying Marks for Aptitude Test: Candidate needs to secure at least 42 marks in each of the test batteries to
qualify. This is applicable to all candidates equally. In the Aptitude test, there will be the option of giving answers in English or Hindi.

After Computer Aptitude Test, a merit list will be prepared by RRBs. They will give 70% weightage for Second Stage Part A Computer Based Test Marks, and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in Computer-Based Aptitude Test. Qualified candidates will be called for the Document Verification and Medical Test.
